Hot work tool steels are a product group used in the manufacturing of metal products such as aluminum, copper, zinc, lead, brass, zamak, and steel that require shaping at high temperatures, as well as certain special plastic injection products.

Thanks to specially designed alloying elements, they are used in hot forging dies, cores and inserts of high-pressure die casting molds, metal extrusion dies, hot forming dies, and hot cutting systems, as well as in certain plastic molds where high strength and high cycle life are critical.

Due to working conditions, the mold surface is exposed to high temperature fluctuations and mechanical loads. Therefore, hot work tool steels are required to be resistant to these severe conditions.

After appropriate heat treatment, nitriding, PVD coating, and EDM (electrical discharge machining) can be applied. Please request information regarding precautions after these processes.
